We are looking for an Agronomic R&D Lead within our Horticulture Sales Team. In this role, you will oversee the efforts of our product development as pertaining to field trials, technical support and product refinement. The position will be a key team member working closely with the Quality, R&D, Regulatory, and Sales teams as you collaborate to identify and introduce new technologies and processes to support field testing in the US. Through close interaction with horticulturists, agronomists and farmers you will gather feedback on how field growth trials are progressing and collaborate across teams to deliver detailed experimental protocols that enable product advancement decisions by our scientists and placement decisions to our customers. Your Responsibilities • Deliver the highest quality field data as part of the North American Research and Development (R&D) pipeline by providing optimal trial management, at times working on an internal R&D efforts that span across crops, sites, and geographic regions. • Design activities to support development, registration, and marketing efforts of the US team and provide assessments to develop and launch our new products through biological testing plans. • Implement unique and innovative technology solutions designed to improve research design and operations success using new tools and methodologies to improve overall products such as the pilot and use of geospatial systems, agronomic planting and harvesting tools, harvesting shelling systems, and data capture applications. • Evaluate new products and new product concepts for fit in US crops and production models, producing analyses that can be used in marketing and communications materials. • Develop and manage national field trial plans and budgets to yield data for registration, regulatory and marketing needs through the efforts of Development Representatives. • Organize and execute day-to-day priorities as the leader of a cross-functional team such as pre-season logistical trial planning in accordance with local and federal guidelines, and in-season phenotyping activities performed by contractors. • Build positive relationships with key influencers at universities and other research locations as well as key grower companies. • Engage in community relation activities including but not limited to community volunteer efforts, sustainability activities, and serve as a technical representative to external parties in partnership with Commercial, Marketing, and other functions on agronomic topics such as product pipeline development, agronomy practices, and compliance standards. Working Conditions and Physical Requirements • This job operates part of the time in a remote office environment and part of the time on the road. • Ability to work with autonomy and travel intensively on business by vehicle or commercial transportation to other branches, meeting locations or customer farms (50% or more). • Flexibility to work longer hours, be accessible to clients and employees during evenings and weekends. • Environment exposure; seasonal outdoor temperatures which includes dealing with live insects. Exposed to hot or humid conditions at times.
- Qualifications
- • M.S. in Agriculture or related discipline with at least five of experience OR Ph.D. in Agriculture or related discipline with at least two years of experience. • Make recommendations on agronomic components and systems; • Strong technical and sales support (local influence); • 3-5 years’ experience in independent research / team lead. • Demonstrated experience and understanding with statistics and data analyses
