- The University of Tennessee Department of Entomology and Plant Pathology invites applications for a full-time, 12 month, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant/ Associate Professor. Ideal candidates should demonstrate ability to: • Develop a robust educational program for stakeholder groups that includes traditional and web-based training efforts • Perform applied, field-level research • Effectively communicate with stakeholder groups and the scientific community through presentations and publications • Diagnosis and management of arthropod problems of field crops • Work in a multidisciplinary, collaborative team environment Responsibilities include: • Delivery a comprehensive and dynamic extension program in IPM related to the common field crops grown in Tennessee (cotton, soybean, corn and wheat). • An applied research program that promotes best management practices for arthropods pests. • Development of strong program that supports the training of county agents, crop consultants, other stakeholder groups, and graduate students. • Serving as major advisor to graduate student. • Apply for and receive extramural funding (grants, contracts, gifts and fees) to support extension programming, applied research and support graduate students TO APPLY: Review of applications will commence December 1, 2020 and continue until a suitable candidate is identified. - Qualifications
- Minimum Qualifications: • Ph.D. in entomology with broad knowledge in field crop arthropods. • Demonstrated skills in written and oral communication, data management and technical writing • Ability and willingness to meet demanding travel requirements • Demonstrated ability to work with people from diverse clientele regardless of race, color, national origin, sex, age, disability, religion or veteran status.
