- Assistant Professor of Microbiology, Biological Sciences, Arkansas State University The Department of Biological Sciences at Arkansas State University invites applicants for a tenure track position in microbiology at the Assistant Professor rank, to begin in August 2021. The successful applicant must have a Ph.D. in any area of microbiology or a related subdiscipline. Preference will be given to individuals with previous postdoctoral training, experience in mentoring students, and an established research record. The successful candidate will be expected to establish an externally funded research program, direct undergraduate and graduate student research, and collaborate with faculty within and external to the department. Several avenues for collaborative research at A-State are available with faculty in the Department of Biological Sciences, the Arkansas Biosciences Institute, the Ecotoxicology Research Facility, the Arkansas Center for Biodiversity Collections, and the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine (Jonesboro). Applicants must also provide evidence of a commitment to high-quality teaching and will be expected to contribute to our undergraduate preprofessional program. The successful candidate will teach courses in microbiology, and upper level courses within the candidate’s area of specialization. The ability to teach in the areas of cell biology and genetics is desirable. Service at the department, college, and university level is expected.
