- Description
- The successful candidate will be responsible for developing a program combining research and extension in Veterinary Entomology with emphasis on management of arthropod parasites and vectors affecting livestock. Strong basic and applied research components are expected to procure extramural support, publish research results in peer-reviewed journals and extension publications, and collaborate with preexisting research and extension programs in the Department, University, and USDA-Arthropod-Borne Animal Diseases Research Unit. Teaching duties will include offering an undergraduate course in Animal Health Entomology every year, developing a graduate course (800-level) in an area of interest to the incumbent every other year, supervising graduate students and participating in institutional education and outreach activities. The percent FTE may change in accordance with the needs of the Department.
- Qualifications
- Education: Ph.D. in entomology, biology, genetics, or a closely related field, with a strong background (as measured by publications, grant funding, and academic training) in animal health and livestock entomology. Minimum Requirements: Training, experience, and proficiency in veterinary entomology. Evidence of oral and written communication proficiency Preferred Qualifications: Postdoctoral experience in Veterinary Entomology. Demonstrated ability for successful grant writing, collaborative research/extension efforts, and teaching.
