Department Summary: The Department of Biological Sciences, one of four departments in the College of Science, hasover 40 faculty, 175 graduate and 3,000 undergraduate students. Our faculty is a community ofscholars dedicated to research and teaching in Ecology, Environmental Science, Biochemistryand Molecular Biology, Physiology, Neuroscience, Plant Biology, and Organismal-environmentinteractions. We offer Bachelor’s degrees in Biology, Biochemistry, Ecology, Medical LaboratoryScience, and Forensic Science, and Masters and PhDs in Biology, Biochemistry and MolecularBiology, and Environmental Science. We measure our success by the success of our studentsand the quality of our intellectual contributions to society. Position Summary: The Department of Biological Sciences at the University of North Texas ( UNT ) invites applicantsfor a tenure-track Assistant Professor position with a research focus in Invertebrate Biology. Thisincludes (but is not limited to) research in the development, physiology, neuroscience,biomechanics and genetics of invertebrates’ or environmental/organismal interactions involvinginvertebrates. The faculty member will be expected to develop an externally funded researchprogram that also supports undergraduate and graduate training and education. The facultymember will participate in teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. Review of applications will begin on December 1, 2020 and will continue until the position isfilled. Applications should include the following items: 1) cover letter, 2) curriculum vitae, 3)research statement (≤ 2 pages, single spaced), including potential for external funding, 4)statement of teaching philosophy (≤ 1 page), including experience/interests in including underrepresented groups, and 5) names and contact information for three references.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will have a doctoral degree in Biological Sciences or a related field. Preferred Qualifications: Postdoctoral training and demonstrated potential to maintain a funded research program.
