- Description
- The College Station Police Department announcing that they are now soliciting applications for the Fall 2019 school semester. Positions that will be available are: Administration - Research Project (1 position) Community Enhancement Unit – Social Media (1 position) Crime Analysis (1 position) Crime Victim Services (1 position) Criminal Investigations (4 positions - 2 on MWF and 2 on T and T) Patrol Operations (1 position) Public Safety GIS (1 position) Recruiting and Training (1 position) Technical Services (1 position) The on-line application deadline to apply is June 16th at 11:59pm. Applications received after June 16th will not be considered. I apologize for the very short turn around this time, but HR had difficulty getting them set up with our outside on-line applications vendor and then we experienced delays with our IT folks. Two things that I would like for you to stress to your students who are considering applying: First - All of our internships must be part of their academic curriculum and therefore they must be receiving some academic credit for its successful completion. Past experience has shown us that students “just wanting to do an internship” typically are not as focused and there is no incentive for them to keep up their part of the bargain. This requirement is written in bold and underlined in two places on the Police Department internship position announcement, but we still get several applications each semester from those who check “NO” to the question “Will you be seeking academic credit for this internship.” Second – Filling out the application completely is very important. We get many more applications that we have positions to fill (83 applications received for the Spring Semester,) and often good students are passed over due to a poor initial application. The information boxes on the application are there for a reason, and when they skip them, it doesn’t help our “first impression” of their potential work product.
