Description
The position serves as an entomologist performing research on vectors borne diseases disease outbreaks, vector borne disease ecology and epidemiology. Responsibilities Develop an understanding of vector borne disease, vector borne disease ecology and epidemiology. Perform projects contain a limited number of variables and are completed by application of standard approaches and established precedents. Perform a small routine projects or a portion of a larger project. Conduct minor design and systems analysis for the development of scientific models and prepare proposals. Performs data analysis, compilation and reduction. Participate in the development of performance and testing requirements and protocols. Travel Required Occasional travel - You may be expected to travel for this position up to 5% domestic.

Qualifications Basic Requirements: Bachelor's Degree: entomology; or a related discipline of the biological or physical sciences that included at least 16 semester hours in entomology. OR Combination of education and experience: courses equivalent to a major that included course work as shown above, plus appropriate experience or additional education MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: In addition to meeting the basic requirements above, applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the next lower grade level in Federal service as defined in the paragraphs below: Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the position which has equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities (KSAs) to successfully perform the duties of the position. GS-0414-09: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service to include, performing research on vector borne disease outbreaks, vector borne disease ecology and epidemiology. -OR- Have 2 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a master's or equivalent graduate degree -OR- Have a combination of specialized experience and progressively higher level graduate education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. GS-0414-11: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level in the Federal service to include, experience performing studies involving a number of biological and environmental variables. -OR- Have 3 years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to a Ph.D. degree or Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree -OR- Have a combination of specialized experience and progressively higher level graduate education that meets 100% of the qualification requirements for this position. Education Education completed in colleges or universities outside the United States may be used to meet the education requirements. You must provide acceptable documentation that the foreign education is comparable to that received in an accredited educational institution in the United States.
