Description
This position will continue to develop and implement a statewide Tick Control Integrated Pest Management (IPM) strategy. Position involves tick population surveillance, tick-borne pathogen monitoring, applied research on various tick control methods, control of tick populations on select public lands, judicious use of acaricides and other control methods, tick-host animal population management, and tick-habitat vegetation management. Position involves public and private landowner consultations, public education and outreach, and programmatic interactions with wildlife managers and public health personnel.
Qualifications
Applicants who do not possess the preferred qualification will still be eligible to compete for this position if job requirements are met. Possession of a Masters degree or higher in Tick Biology/Ecology including the study of tick-borne diseases. JOB REQUIREMENTS for Environmental Scientist IV Applicants must have education, training and/or experience demonstrating competence in each of the following areas: Possession of a Masters degree or higher in an environmentally related scientific discipline OR Bachelors degree or higher in an environmentally related scientific discipline and current professional certification. Possession of scientific prominence or recognition with publication in a scientific or trade journal. Three years experience in environmental or natural resources project management which includes planning, developing, implementing, managing and evaluating environmental or natural resources projects to ensure objectives are met. Three years experience in analyzing and evaluating scientific data. Three years experience in interpreting environmental laws, rules, regulations, standards, policies and procedures.
