- JOB OBJECTIVE: Work in a fast paced, multi-faceted environment providing highly complex consultative and technical assistance work for the Commodity Operations section of the Texas Department of Agriculture’s (TDA) Food and Nutrition (F&N) Division. Plan and coordinate orders with the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) for Contracting Entities (CE) participating in the National School Lunch Program (NLSP), Summer Food Service Program, The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) and the Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) and coordinate the on-going maintenance of the Texas Unified Nutrition Program System (TX-UNPS). Work under limited supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 1. Prepare, analyze and submit highly complex and/or large USDA Foods orders for NSLP, SFSP, TEFAP and CSFP to USDA for eligible CEs in accordance with state and federal regulations; compare food orders against inventory levels; enter analyzed data into USDA’s system, Web-based Supply Chain System (WBSCM); and serve as a the primary point-of-contact for the USDA ordering teams. 2. Strategically plan ordering activities for subsequent program years by analyzing historical data to identify trends and anomalies in ordering and inventory. 3. Coordinate and logistically plan ordering activities utilizing systems data. 4. Extract and analyze Farm to School data in TX-UNPS; manage orders, shipments and allocations in TX-UNPS and with the Department of Defense (DoD); and serve as point of contact for the program. 5. Coordinate and perform on-going maintenance activities in TX-UNPS including creating surveys; managing orders and requests; analyzing system data; and maintaining product data. 6. Generate an import process between WBSCM and TX-UNPS on a weekly basis and identify, resolve and/or coordinate the resolution of data discrepancies 7. Manually enter DoD Fresh school entitlements into the Fresh Fruit and Vegetable Ordering Receipt System (FFAVORS); and make adjustments to CE entitlements. 8. Track entitlement and identify risks posed by low use of entitlement; and provide recommendations to management. 9. Lead or participate in meetings, committees or special projects to problem solve and provide and recommendations for the success of the program. 10. Attend and present USDA Foods program updates at conferences and events. 11. Provide complex technical assistance and guidance as a subject matter expert in responding to inquiries regarding commodity operations and the compliance with state and federal laws, regulations and/or requirements. 12. Adhere to established work schedule with regular attendance. 13. Follow all TDA safety guidelines/procedures and ethics requirements. NON-ESSENTIAL DUTIES: 14. Perform other duties as assigned.

- QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS CONTINUED: - Work experience with an automated tracking system or database; - Valid Texas driver’s license and an acceptable driving record*; and - Required to travel up to 5% of the work period.
