- Position Description: The Crawley lab at North Carolina State University (NCSU) is recruiting a Ph.D. student (will consider recruiting a M.S. student with previous undergraduate research experience) with a focus in urban and structural entomology for the spring or fall semester, 2021. Urban entomology is the field dedicated to the study of insects found indoors and around man-made structures. Research topics the candidate could explore include urban pest management (especially novel applied strategies), biology and behavior (host-finding, pheromone-mediated interactions), physiology and toxicology (sublethal effects of pesticides), and other topics that impact urban pest management efforts, especially in multi- unit housing facilities. Research topics are not limited to these proposed topics, however. The successful candidate will be highly motivated and have an interest in generating data that can be utilized to drive the development and/or improvement of pest management strategies for stakeholders in North Carolina and the region. The candidate should possess superior organizational and communication skills in order to navigate between research and extension duties expected from the laboratory group. The ideal candidate will have previous research experience and possess a M.S. degree in Entomology or a related discipline.
