Description
Position Title: Postdoctoral Research Associate Job Type: P-14 Temporary Grant Employee Position Start date: January 16th, 2021 Contract: Initial one year, upon satisfactory progress and availability of funding contract can be extended Area: Stored products insect pest management A 12-month (Postdoctoral) Research Associate is available working with Dr. Rizana Mahroof in the Dept. of Biological and Physical Sciences at South Carolina State University. This position is supported by a grant from 1890 Allans-Evans Program of the USDA-NIFA. The successful candidate will join stored products entomology research team studying ways to manage key stored product insects using non-chemical tactics including ozone and semiochemical based methods. Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be responsible for: 1. designing research protocols and conducting laboratory/field experiments to use non-chemical methods to control key stored product insects 2. data analysis, and the preparation of research articles for refereed journals, 3. presentation of results at professional meetings and in outreach settings. 4. working with undergraduate students and guide them. Compensation & duration is commensurate with experience, with a competitive benefits package included. The initial appointment is 1 year, and renewable given satisfactory performance. Qualifications
Interested individuals must have a PhD in entomology, ecology or related field, ability to work independently, experience with stored products pest management; written and oral communication; and managing lab and field-based applied entomology research projects. Previous experience with stored products systems is desired. Competent in statistical analysis is expected.
