Description
The Honey Bee Research and Extension Laboratory is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral research associate who will be required to lead a grant-funded project developing molecular markers for Apis species and unwanted Apis mellifera subspecies. The postdoc will also be required to collaborate on a project discovering new diagnostic tools for honey bee pests and diseases. The postdoc will be required to work closely with other HBREL research team members and outside collaborators, to produce project reports to fulfill the duties associated with grant(s), and peer-reviewed manuscripts. The technical proficiency of a potential candidate for the position may be assessed prior to hiring. Opportunities to engage with scientific and public audiences are available.
Qualifications
Minimum requirements: PhD in Entomology, Molecular Biology, or a related discipline; experience with DNA extraction, Sanger sequencing and RT-PCR techniques; evidence of research productivity. Experience with project management, large-scale datasets, and mitochondrial genome assembly and annotation are highly desirable. Knowledge of honey bees is desired, but not required.
