- Description
- We are seeking a highly motivated and quantitative Assistant Professor for research to work as part of a team on techniques to reduce cattle fever tick infestations in wildlife. This position will work with a team of field technicians, graduate students, research scientists, and USDA research personnel to test approaches to treat Nilgai and white-tailed deer for cattle fever ticks. Employee will help supervise research efforts, collect, organize, and analyze data, produce project reports, study Nilgai and deer management and ecology to support tick eradication efforts, and publish scientific papers. Applicants should have working knowledge of SAS or R, GIS, remote sensing, and mixed modeling. Position is 1 year with potential for extension.
- Qualifications
- Requires a Ph.D. in ecology, wildlife science, conservation biology, geospatial technologies, or related field. A strong work ethic, good verbal/written communication skills, ability to work independently and as a productive member of a research team is essential. Ability to operate 4-wheel drive vehicle and conduct site visits is necessary. All positions are security-sensitive.
