- The University of Calgary (UofC), Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (UCVM) is seeking a full-time tenure track faculty position in Veterinary Parasitology at the rank of Assistant Professor. The successful applicant will focus on establishing an independent, externally funded research program and contribute to Veterinary Parasitology teaching in UCVM. We will consider a variety of research areas and expertise where parasitology is the primary focus. This position offers a range of unique research opportunities. UCVM research laboratories are co-located at the UofC Foothills Campus with those of the Cumming School of Medicine, providing outstanding research infrastructure and numerous opportunities for collaboration. Our Faculty have strong collaborations with many other UofC Faculties, including Science, Anthropology and Archaeology, Arts, Nursing and the Schulich School of Engineering. WA Ranches, the UofC’s 19,000 acre working research and teaching ranch in the Alberta Foothills, together with existing faculty collaborations with national and provincial parks, federal, provincial and territorial wildlife and agriculture agencies and NGOs, and the livestock industry, provide a diversity of opportunities to develop innovative research programs in the field of Parasitology. UCVM is also committed to a One Health approach in teaching and research, encouraging collaborations across disciplinary boundaries. The successful applicant will be expected to spend the majority of their time devoted to research activities and will be expected to teach at both undergraduate (DVM) and graduate levels. The candidate will be an excellent emerging researcher who has demonstrated research creativity and innovation and the potential to achieve international recognition within the next 5 to 10 years. A PhD is required for this position. The successful candidate at the Assistant Professor rank must demonstrate evidence of a track record of publications in high-quality journals, securing external funding and effectiveness in teaching.
