- The Department of Biomedical Sciences and Pathobiology in the Virginia Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech has an open 12-month tenure or clinical track faculty position in parasitology, Assistant or Associate Professor level. This position involves teaching, research and diagnostic parasitology. The department and college have a strong, vibrant, nationally and internationally recognized infectious diseases program. The instructional responsibilities will be to teach parasitology in an innovative DVM professional program, and there will be opportunities to teach graduate level courses consistent with the candidate’s and college’s focus. Evidence of research in parasitology and ability to establish an independent research program is required with background in the following areas especially encouraged: zoonotic parasitic infections, arthropod borne disease, natural and experimental animal models of parasitic diseases, parasiticide resistance, and mechanisms of resistance or susceptibility to parasitic infections. The successful applicant will also supervise the parasitology laboratory of the Virginia Tech Animal Laboratory Service (an AAVLD accredited laboratory), provide consultative parasitology service to clients, and provide recommendations on new technologies relative to parasitology assays. The candidate will be joining a progressive department and college that have a strong infectious diseases oriented faculty. In addition, there is a vigorous infectious disease program in the College of Sciences. We are seeking a highly motivated candidate with a strong record of accomplishments in parasitology. Appointment to the Associate Professor rank will require a demonstrated record of accomplishment including extramural funding.
